House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy shared a statement on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon from Walorski's office confirming her death in Elkhart County in northern Indiana.

The statement said Walorski's husband, Dean Swihart, learned of her death from the Elkhart County Sheriff's office.
The driver of the other vehicle, Edith Schmucker, 56, of Nappanee, Indiana, also died in the crash,according to the sheriff's office.
